The University of the Philippines Maroons are doing just fine in their no-nonsense preparations for the coming UAAP Season 86.
UP Sports Director Bo Perasol said the Maroons have posted five wins in six tune-up games, including back-to-back against Bosnia’s Under-19 national team as part of their overseas training camp in Belgrade, Serbia.
“We are doing good, so far we are 5-1. The two big wins we had were against the U-19 of Bosnia. This Bosnia team is very tough,” said Perasol.
Against Bosnia U-19, the Goldwin Monteverde-mentored Maroons needed a strong finish before eking out an 86-79 win in their first meeting before romping to an 82-65 victory in their second game.
The team’s only setback so far was inflicted by Borac Zemun, a club team from Belgrade.
Former Gilas coach Rajko Toroman was one of the happy spectators during one of their games in Belgrade.
Perasol said the Maroons, who are aching to regain the title they lost to Ateneo in Season 85, have still two more games left in their schedule before going home on July 18.
