A gifted child, loved by his mother and siblings and admired by his teachers, is longing for the affection of his own father.
This is the gist of “The Special Gift,” a film by Lawrence Roxas, as produced by RC Gomez Entertainment Productions.
According to Lawrence, the idea for the film came about, after the original film he and film producer Roy Gomez discussed to create failed to come to fruition.
“Our main idea in creating films is to inspire,” Lawrence shared. “We already have a film in mind, about the true-to-life heroism of teachers in the barrios. But because of the pandemic, the movie’s principal photography, which was in Mindoro, was cancelled.”
“It’s opportune that we were able to push through with this, ‘The Special Gift,’” said Roy. “It is something that Lawrence also envisioned. Although we didn’t originally intend for it to be our first-ever film offering, it is still very inspirational and timely.”
“The Special Gift” is an advocacy film meant to highlight the situation given to parents with children on the spectrum.
Playing lead in the film is child actor Franchesco Maafi who has appeared in several TV projects under GMA including”Beautiful Justice,” “Nakarehas Na Puso” and “Hearts On Ice.”
“Excited po ako for ‘The Special Gift’ dahil first film ko po ito,” he told us.
Franchesco is hopeful that kids his age would relate to the film.
“Kasi na-tackle din po dito ang bullying, which is something na sana matigil na po,” he said.
Also part of the cast: Mike Lloren, Malou Canzana, Migui Moreno, Ella Sheen, BJ Forbes, Romina Cauilan, Angelo Gomez.
Playing a special role is Soliman Cruz who described the film as “a work of passion.”
“Isa itong napakagandang pelikula para sa buong pamilya,” Soliman said.
“The Special Gift” will have a special screening on Sept. 9 at The Block, SM North EDSA.
