ILOILO CITY – Romeo Constancio and Jerson Gison Jr. emerged the fastest in their respective divisions, topping the centerpiece 100m dash in athletics competition in the 2023 Reserved Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Games Visayas Leg at the IloIlo Sports Complex on Wednesday, Aug. 16, here.
Constancio logged 11.5 seconds in the Air Force bracket, edging out Peter Molina (11.6) of West Visayas State University (WVSU) and Guimaras State University’s (GSU) David Paul Balagat with (11.7).
The win was redemption of sort for the second year criminology student of UNO-R after being beaten by Molina in the 200m event on Tuesday.
The Pulupandan, Negros Occidental native later joined forces with teammates David Paul Balagat, John Lloyd Moreno and Christian Sericon in topping the PAF’s men’s 4×400-meter relay, where they clocked 49.6 sec to earn the top spot.
Constancio finished with three golds and a silver to become the most decorated runner in the event.
Not to be left out was Jerson Gison of West Visayas State University who won the Philippine Army’s bracket in 11.7 seconds.
Harold Sumaria of Colegio de Santa Ana de Victorias (11.8) and St. Anthony Colleges’ Nestor Mini Jr. (12.4) finished second and third, respectively.
On the distaff side, Filamer Christian University’s Piepet Prebillo bagged her second gold medal by clocking 13.6 seconds in the Army bracket.
She beat out Carla Lucero of Capiz State University (14.0 sec) while West Visayas State University-Calinog’s Ma. Eden Cornelia (13.8) topped the Air Force bracket over UNO-R’s Marla Jean Bacaro (14.3).
