Kiana Valenciano, popularly known as Kiana V, showcased her musical prowess at the recent “Gary V: Back at the Museum” concert series.
The talented artist sang two heartwarming songs alongside her father, OPM icon Gary Valenciano, before delivering a captivating solo performance that left the audience in awe.
On her participation in the concert series, Kiana shared, “When I heard that my dad would be returning to the iconic stage where we made so many memories together, I knew I had to be part of Gary V: Back at the Museum. Some of my earliest memories as a performer involved singing with him at the Music Museum, so I really cleared my schedule for this.”
Kiana has been making significant strides in the international music scene since her move to the US in 2020. This bold decision allowed her to explore different perspectives and shut out some of the pressures she felt in the Philippines. The move ushered in a period of tremendous growth in both her career and personal life. She not only embraced a new environment but also took the opportunity to redefine her musical identity. Opting to go by the name “Kiana V” on music streaming platforms, she felt that this change would allow listeners to appreciate her music without the weight of her family’s legacy influencing their judgment.
Her journey abroad led to a series of remarkable achievements that solidified her place in the global music industry. She delivered a standout performance at the prestigious SXSW (South By Southwest) music festival in Austin, Texas, where she was the lone Pinoy artist, sharing the stage with international acts. Furthermore, she clinched the title of Female R&B Artist of the Year at the 2022 PMPC Star Awards for her song “Corners.” Her collaborations have also expanded, working with renowned artists such as Jesse Barrera. Kiana’s songwriting, deeply rooted in personal experiences, has resonated with many. With her unique blend of soulful melodies and heartfelt lyrics, fans around the world are eagerly awaiting her new material.
Adding to the family affair, Kiana’s cousin, Kai Buizon, opened for Gary with a three-song set of original material.
Kai, a rising star in the OPM scene, recently released her latest single “Kaibigan Lang,” a song that delves into the complexities of platonic and romantic feelings. All of Kai’s singles have been original compositions, showcasing her prowess as a songwriter.
The “Gary V: Back at the Museum” concert series not only celebrated music but also supported the Shining Light Foundation, a noble cause close to Gary’s heart.
The first two shows were a massive success, selling out completely. With the overwhelming response, tickets for the upcoming shows on the 19th and 26th are going fast.
