Yuka Saso limped home with a 1-over-par 73 to finish tied for eighth place in the CPKC Women’s Open at the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in Vancouver, Canada on Sunday, Aug. 27.
The Fil-Japanese tallied a four-round total of 284 to finish five strokes behind Megan Khang, who captured the crown with a 279 aggregate despite a dismal 74 in the final day..
Saso, who had earlier rounds of 66, 73 and 72, struggled at the front nine with three bogeys against a lone birdie on the sixth.
Saso’s performance tied her with In Gee Chun (69) and Jodi EwartShadoff (73), and earned $56,954 (around P3.2 million) prize.
Like Saso, fellow Tokyo Olympian Bianca Pagdanganan also staggered with a third straight 73 for 290 at joint 32nd.
After firing three birdies against a single bogey in the first 13 holes, Pagdanganan was pulled down with a bogey on the 14th and a double bogey and another bogey on the next three holes.
She tied with eight others that include world No. 4 Nelly Korda and pocketed $17,308 (around P980,000).
