Ana Puod, general manager of PTV, the flagship state broadcaster, recently announced the channel’s major programming makeover.
This, she said, will include the launch of several new shows in an effort to make the government channel more competitive ratings-wise.
“Hindi man maging number one e, ang hope namin at least maging number two in terms of viewership,” she said.
Some of the shows announced include:
“Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon” as hosted by Nina Corpus and Chi Atienza.
It is a daily public forum that serves as a springboard for government agencies to relay much-needed information to the public.
“Punto Asintado Reload” is hosted by broadcaster and legislator Erwin Tulfo. He will comment on the hottest news and issues of the day.
“Sentro Balita Weekend” recaps the most significant news stories of the week. It is anchored by PTV senior reporters Daniel Manalastas, Kenneth Paciente, Allan Francisco, and Mela Lesmoras.
“Ulat Bayan Weekend” is hosted by Dominic Almelor. It summarizes the biggest headlines and breaking news of the week from around the country and the world and also covers trending topics in sports, among others.
“PTV News Tonight” is the flagship late-night English newscast of PTV as anchored by William Thio, Monique Tuzon, and Charms Espina.
“PTV Balita Ngayon” and “PTV Balita Ngayon sa Probinsya” are PTV’s multilingual five-minute newsbreak. It dispenses breaking news and developing stories as they unfold.
“PTV News Now,” “Global Round-up,” and “Stories from the Grid” are five-minute English newsbreaks.
“On the Ground” and “BBM Vlog” are produced by award-winning director Paul Soriano.
A series of short documentaries, “On The Ground,” highlights the stories of our culture, history, and identity as Filipinos.
“BBM Vlog” is a light and intimate glimpse into the life of 17th Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
“On Assignment” is a long-form documentary program that highlights real-life stories of Filipinos as hosted by Maan Macapagal.
“The Chatroom” has Daphne Osena-Perez interviewing people behind the most significant issues and stories.
“Code Red” is a public service program that focuses on the government’s approach to citizens’ safety, welfare, and security during disasters and emergencies.
“Go Beyond” is a travel documentary that narrates the stories of dying traditions and cultures, the last frontier, tribes, and endangered marine life in the Philippines.
Asked about rumors that popular game show host Willie Revillame is going to have a show on PTV, Ana related, “We are still negotiating.”
“Matagal po yung proseso. Marami pang inaayos. But all of the parties are hoping for a very positive outcome.”
