Blackwater Bossing forward Troy Rosario turned emotional as he finally earned his long awaited bachelor’s degree on Wednesday, Sept. 13.
Rosario, 31, took five years before finally completing his Bachelor of Science degree Major in Management at National University.
In his final year as a student, Rosario missed two important events in his life due to his national team duties as member of Gilas Pilipinas.
“Back in 2015, I missed two important events in my life due to National Team duties, my Graduation and PBA Draft. I was not able to march and receive my diploma. It has always been a dream of mine,” Rosario posted on his social media account.
“For some, it may sound noob but not for me who had nothing but determination and hope just to finish my studies, it is something far-reaching, a goal of a lifetime,” he added.
“And today, as I walk through this journey, I am proud to take a step to receive that goal of a lifetime, which I envisioned eight years ago-earning my diploma,” Rosario added.
“Thank you to Sir Hans Sy, Sir Fulton Su, Sir Manny Sy, Sir Nilo Ocampo, Sir Rj Ermita, Maam Lilibeth Diaz, Maam Pinky Sta Maria, Maam Arlene Trillanes, Maam Glendora Tiu and Sir Raul Quintela for making this possible. To Coach Eric Altamirano and Tita Marissa Beltran Altamirano, the discipline and courage you instilled in me has a huge impact to who I am today. To my Mama in heaven, Papa and my sisters – Thank you for pushing me to go to Manila to try my luck in basketball. I hope I made you proud. To my wife and kids – you are my rock and my support system.”
The 6-foot-7 cager was drafted as second overall pick by Mahindra Enforcer but was traded to Talk-N-Text Tropang Texters (Triple Giga), where he played for seven years and won a title in 2021.
