The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the support of Senator Imee Marcos, organizes the grandest battle of creativity through the Young Creatives Challenge (YC2).
This initiative aspires to ignite, acknowledge, and spotlight the brilliance of creative minds across diverse categories in the fields of Songwriting, Screenwriting, Playwriting, Graphic Novel, Animation, Game Development, and Online Content Creation.
This competition is meticulously crafted to pinpoint and unite exceptionally talented individuals, fostering a dynamic platform that grants them access to a myriad of opportunities for both personal and professional advancement. From garnering well-deserved recognition and exposure to cultivating valuable networks and collaborative partnerships, these are just a handful of the numerous rewards awaiting participants in this remarkable endeavor.
The DTI invites all natural-born all Filipino citizens aged 18-35, regardless of their level of experience, to participate as either individuals or teams.
Entrants must submit entirely original creations of their own making. The competition theme is deliberately broad, embracing an ‘open’ and ‘free subject’ approach, granting participants the creative freedom to delve into any topic or subject matter of their choosing.
In celebration of the competition, the DTI will conduct a launching activity on September 24, which will be livestream via DTI Philippines Facebook Page. This exclusive gathering will bring together prospective participants hailing from various colleges and universities nationwide, alongside esteemed collaborators and potential producers from the private sector and the vibrant creative industries.
Anticipate the semi-finals taking place in October 2023, where we’ll honor the Top 30 creators and unveil the Top 10 Grand Finalists.
Subsequently, the grand finals in November 2023 will represent the culmination of the competition, where the Grand Finalists will be duly awarded their well-deserved cash prizes and millions-worth of promotions, incentives, registration of intellectual property, and possible production or commercialization.
Moreover, an exciting development in the competition landscape is the introduction of the Online Content Challenge, constituting the seventh category. This stands apart with its distinct mechanics and a separate prize pool, setting it apart from the six main categories. It is a pocket competition under YC2 that offers a platform for online content creators to showcase their talents and make a significant impact by raising awareness about the vibrant and dynamic Philippine creative industries. This special category will have TikTok as its main channel for entry submission.
The DTI, in support to the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act (RA 11904), is steadfast in its support of the advancement of creative industries and this competition is only one of the many initiatives of the government.
