Nathan Studios, the film company founded by mother-daughter tandem Sylvia Sanchez-Atayde and Ria Atayde, reaffirms its commitment to bringing groundbreaking movies within reach of Pinoy audiences distributing acclaimed Japanese drama, “Monster” here.
They acquired distribution rights to the film at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received the Best Screenplay award.
“Monster,” directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda and penned by Yuji Sakamoto, explores love, loss of innocence, deceit, mental health, among others as it follows the story of Minato, a lonely, confused boy and his mom Saori.
Sylvia related, “We wanted to bring this film here because we were personally touched by the story. Itong ‘Monster’ e, masasabing tagos sa puso. We believe many Filipinos could relate to it.”
She added, “The film’s director, Hirokazu Kore-eda, is quite good. Ang galing-galing niya.”
The actress-producer reiterated Nathan Studios mission.
Seen at the film’s red-carpet premiere held recently in Megamall were Ynez Veneracion, Mon Confiado, Angel Aquino, Ricky Davao, Ara Mina, Elijah Canlas, Jane Oiñeza, RK Bagatsing, Isabel Rivas, director Richard Somes, and JK Labajo.
“Monster” is set to open in theaters October 11.
