Deschon Winston, Mac Tallo and import Tom Vonadovich formed a deadly triumvirate as Converge outgunned Rain or Shine, 120-111, in their tuneup game in the Converge preseason pocket tournament on Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Gatorade Hoops Center.
Vonadovich led the assault for the FiberXers with 27 points and 13 rebounds while Tallo made a case for a PBA comeback after dropping 24 points built on five triples.
Converge’s prized rookie addition in Winston also showed a glimpse of what he can bring to the table for his team and finished with 23 points.
He was also at the forefront of a huge third quarter flurry, dropping 14 of his team’s 39 points that allowed them take control of the contest 92-75 heading into the final frame.
Converge kept its foot on the gas pedal from there with Tallo also delivering timely hits to establish its biggest lead at 15, 111-95, midway through the final frame.
The FiberXers are now unbeaten through two games in the pocket tournament after also dominating the Blackwater Bossing in their first game.
Dejuan Summer finished with 21 points for Rain or Shine – all of which he scored in the first half after not anymore seeing action in the final two quarters.
Andrei Caracut also had 16 points while Santi Santillan added 12 in a losing effort for the Elasto Painters.
