Jeron Teng is thrilled to join San Miguel Beer – the very same team his father Alvin played for and carved a name for himself in the PBA.
The second generation player was the latest addition to the stacked Beermen lineup, giving him the chance to at least experience the same success his father enjoyed with the franchise where he won nine total championships spanning from 1986 to 1994.
“When I gave the news to my dad that I’m playing with San Miguel, they were really happy and excited for me to be here. Yung dad ko talaga kasi, he had his career with San Miguel and won multiple championships,” shared the younger Teng.
“I’m really grateful that I’m here right now and have a good chance of competing for the championship,” he added.
Although joining an already loaded and champion team, Teng, however, knew that he had to earn his minutes especially playing in the same position as Marcio Lassiter, Allyn Bulanadi and Jericho Cruz.
Teng vowed to just do whatever he needs to do for the greater cause of giving SMB a championship in the Commissioner’s Cup where it last won five years ago.
“I just fill in the role the coaches are gonna give me. I am a team player naman what’s important really is the goal and that is to win the championship. Whatever they ask me or need me to do, I’ll do it,” stressed Teng.
“Whatever it takes for us to win a championship. We all have a similar goal and we’re here to support and cheer for each other. In San Miguel, we are family here and we’re here to win championships,” he added.
