Coming-of-age romance drama “My Precious,” a Thai remake of the 2011 Taiwanese movie “You Are The Apple Of My Eye,” is now streaming on Netflix Philippines.
Directed by award winner Fon Kanittha (A past work was once nominated by Thailand for submission to the 89th Oscars for Best Foreign Language Film), the story is based on the semi-autobiographical novel “The Girl We Chased Together in Those Years,” with some details changed under creative license by the author.
It centers on an immature high school boy tutored by a model student who he falls in love with.
The young cast is nothing short of stellar. 16-year-old Tong is played by twenty-two-year-old Korapat Kirdpan or “Nanon,” previously known for GMMTV’s “The Gifted” and “Bad Buddy”.
Rachanun Mahawan of GMMTV’s “2Gether,” “Not Me,” and “Home School,” plays the uptight “Lin”.
Tong’s group of equally unruly group of friends are composed of Bank (Chimon Wachirawit), Dong (Ohm Pawat), Mai (Neo Trai), and Pao (Euro Thanaset), while Lin’s girl best friend Cha-o is played by View Benyapa.
First released theatrically in Thailand on April 27, as “รักแรก โคตรลืมยาก” (“The First Love is so Hard to Forget”) it has since been distributed to a few Asian countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia.
The full-length film was first announced in 2019 at entertainment production company GMMTV’s annual end-of-the-year press conference. The actual film was delayed until 2022.
