How far would you go to make the one you desire happy, fulfilled?
For Arthur, there is no limit.
He would do anything and everything to make sure that he and the love of his life Lena will be together, forever — no matter what.
Arthur and Lena grew up together in a fishing village. They were inseparable. Everyone thought they will eventually end up together.
Arthur thought so, too.
But Lena has her eyes on the stars. She wants to go to the big city. She wants a taste of opulence, of success.
Arthur doesn’t approve. He believes they have everything they will ever need where they are.
But because of his love for Lena, he will relent. He would go on to actually finance her voyage.
Arthur is sure that Lena will come home and be with him again in time.
He is right. Lena would indeed return home. But not to be with him.
Lena has fallen in love with someone else while in the city. She is now planning to get married, work abroad and build a family there.
Of course, Arthur is enraged.
What will happen next?
“That is exactly why it is titled ‘Salakab’,” film director Roman Perez Jr. said.
“To those not in the know, Salakab, is a basket-like device made of split bamboo, used by fishermen to catch fish. In this case, Arthur is the fisherman and Lena is the fish.”
Starring Benz Sangalang and Vivamax Queen Angeli Khang as Arthur and Lena, respectively, “Salakab” introduces audiences to a new sex goddess in Sahara Bernales, who maintained she is part Aeta.
We don’t know of an Aeta actress. Maybe she is the first.
So how was it for her?
“I was actually nervous the first time direk Roman asked me to disrobe but I eventually got over it. Now, I’m raring to do more,” she told us.
Is she ready to bare it all?
She answered, “As long as it’s needed to make the film interesting for audiences, I am more than willing.”
“Salakab” premieres on Vivamax November 17.
