Have you heard of Marita?
She was one of the greatest actresses of a local school.
It wasn’t meant to last forever, though.
Younger and more talented actors would soon eclipse her.
But Marita refuses to be forgotten so easily.
In an effort to make an indelible mark, she gave her all in her last performance.
Including her life.
Yes, Marita decided to go out with a bang, committing suicide for all to see.
Years later, school officials decided to revive their theatre arts program as led by Sandra, a new professor.
She calls for auditions, and many heed the call.
Eventually, several students were chosen. Soon, workshops were underway. The production is set. But something sinister is trying to stop them.
Cristina, the lead actress, starts hearing a woman’s voice during rehearsal.
Props get ruined. Stuff starts disappearing.
Then there were the freak accidents.
Sandra chose to ignore it all.
The show must go on.
Little did she know that Marita is back and she will do everything to get the spotlight.
A film by Roni Benaid, the writer and director of the hit supernatural horror thriller, “Mary Cherry Chua,” “Marita” stars Louise Delos Reyes as Sandra, Ashtine Olviga as Cristina, and Rhen Escaño as Marita.
Opens in cinemas November 22.
