NorthPort team manager Pido Jarencio was handed a P20,000 fine for his verbal altercation with former NLEX import Thomas Robinson.
PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said the decision resulted from a consultation with the technical committee and after Jarencio reached out to him to apologize and explain his side.
The league chief also explained that it took time for the Commissioner’s Office to make a decision as Marcial also initially wanted to summon and get the side of Robinson but the temperamental Road Warriors reinforcement went on a vacation in Palawan and Boracay over the weekend.
Upon coming back to Manila, NLEX had decided to part ways with Robinson, making the former NBA player no longer available to be summoned and allowed the technical committee to come up with an assessment.
Robinson and Jarencio got into a heated spat at the end of NLEX’s win over NorthPort when both squads were already heading towards their respective dugouts.
Aside from the fine, Jarencio was also given a stern warning from the Commissioner’s Office that he could be suspended or be handed a bigger fine should he repeat his actions.
