There’s notion that the film “Broken Heart’s Trip” is made specifically for the LGBTQI+ community.
But film director Lemuel Lorca is quick to dispel this.
“It is meant for everyone who has fallen in love, experience heartbreak, in short, para sa lahat ito,” he said.
He is urging fans to watch “Broken Heart’s Trip” first among entries to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.
This, he said, is so they can avoid the possibility of the film being withdrawn from cinemas early.
“Alam naman natin kasi na kapag mahina ang pelikula sa first day e, agad agad nila itong tinatanggal e sayang naman,” he explained.
“Our film is really funny, lighthearted, entertaining, something that many deserve to enjoy,” he added.
“Broken Heart’s Trip,” a collaborative effort between BMC Films and Smart Films, is the only LGBTQ-themed entry in the festival.
Some worry that this might hinder its box-office value, given the stand of the country’s Christian majority on the issue.
Said lead star Christian Bables, “Everyone involved in the film did their best to make it entertaining, fun. I just hope people would look at it without prejudice.”
Co-star Iyah Mina shared, “I’m really proud to be part of a film that celebrates our community. As long as I get to do my part in imparting the value and importance of gender equality in this day and age is enough for me.”
Note both have won recognition prior for excellence in acting.
“Broken Heart’s Trip” revolves around a reality show hosted by Christian.
It features as contestants five brokenhearted individuals in Teejay Marquez, Marvin Yap, Petite, Iyah, and Andoy Ranay.
The challenge for them is to avoid falling in love as they visit various tourist destinations across the Philippines including Batangas, Cebu, Ilocos Norte, and Laguna.
The prize? A million pesos in cash.
Playing the role of show judges are Tart Carlos and Jaclyn Jose.
“Broken Heart’s Trip” will premiere in cinemas on December 25.
