Historical epic “GOMBURZA” made history recently, garnering multiple accolades at the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival’s Gabi Ng Parangal.
The film bagged a total of 7 trophies including those for Best Actor (Cedric Juan), Best Director (Pepe Diokno), 2nd Best Picture, Best Cinematography (Carlo Canlas Mendoza), Best Production Design (Ericson Navarro), Best Sound Design (Melvin Q. Rivera and Louie Boy Bauson).
It was also the recipient of the special Gatpuno Antonio Villegas Cultural Award.
A teary-eyed Cedrick, who portrayed Fr. Jose Burgos in the film, expressed gratitude to those who cast him in the film and to the theater circuit that helped mold him as an actor.
Pepe acknowledged the invaluable support given by each and everyone who helped him make “GOMBURZA” a thought-provoking and emotionally stirring film.
Dante Rivero and Enchong Dee were also nominated for the Best Supporting Actor plum for their respective portrayal of Fr. Gomes and Fr. Zamora.
The titular performances of the films three leads, combined with Pepe’s mastery in visual storytelling, makes “GOMBURZA” a must-watch.
It continues to elicit impressive feedback among moviegoers for its poignant portrayal of history, nationalism, and the indomitable spirit of the Filipino.
