World Cup of Pool champions Johann Chua and James Aranas banner a strong Philippine side that will compete in the 2nd Universal Chinese Taipei 9-Ball Open Pool Championship on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the Hulk Billiards Flagship Hall in Taipei, Taiwan.
Chua and Aranas are joined by fellow Marboys Billiards Club teammates Anton Raga, Jeffrey Ignacio, Kyle Amoroto, Marvin Asis, Jefrey Roda and Bernie Regalario in the tournament offering $10,000 to the champion.
“We hope to do well in this event,” said Chua of the team’s campaign backed by JR Velasco and Marvin Paringit along with sponsors Cuelees, Omin Cues, Andy Premier, How Tips and Turning Point Chalk.
Chua and Aranas hope to continue their momentum following a successful 2023 where they gave the country a historic fourth World Cup of Pool title via an 11-7 victory over Germany’s Joshua Filler and Moritz Neuhausen in Lugo, Spain.
Meanwhile, runner-up in this event will receive $5,000 while third and fourth placers will pocket $2,500 each.
The team is scheduled to leave for Taiwan on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
