Pops Fernandez is returning to the concert scene for her first major solo show in years, “Always Loved.”
According to Pops, she is doing it mainly to give back to fans who have been asking for the same and for the longest time.
“It’s quite timely din kasi I’m marking my 40th year in show business so, it’s a huge celebration for me and my fans,” she said.
“And I feel like sayang naman, diba? I feel like I could still do it so why not? Alangan naman ipilit mo pa kapag hindi mo na kaya so, now, I think is the right time.”
For a while, Pops was content on producing shows for her artist friends.
Seeing them perform live made her want to do shows again.
“Parang na-inspire ako seeing them do it. Unti-unti I felt like, ‘I want to do it again.’ I missed performing.”
She admitted to feeling a bit of trepidation though.
“I’ve been performing here and there for some time pero ito kasi dahil solo, may kaba, may takot na parang ‘kaya ko pa ba?’ But that’s good. I believe na kapag wala ka nang kaba, then there’s no sense doing it pa. But I’m happy that I’m slowly getting back on the groove. I’m gaining a lot of confidence, preparing for this show.”
Prior, Pops released two new singles in succession: “Always Loved” and “Get It Poppin.”
Both are gaining traction on Spotify.
Said Pops, “I’m really thankful sa magandang reaction ng mga listeners. It inspires me to do more. Iba na ngayon ang music landscape siyempre and it excites me. I always like a good challenge. I am hoping to come out with a new album soon.”
“Always Loved” happens at the Theater Solaire on Feb. 9 and 10.
