Long-time Ginebra San Miguel assistant coach Olsen Racela formally joined the family of the University of Perpetual Help Altas after signing his contract on Thursday, January 11, at the Board Room of the Chairman of the Board in Las Piñas City.
Perpetual Altas team manager Anton Tamayo welcomed Racela in a simple ceremony as the Altas made their desire to become a title contender known for the league’s 100th season.
The country’s oldest collegiate league opens shop in September.
“The first step I will take is to meet the coaching staff like coach Myk Saguiguit, coach Joph Cleopas before we meet the players,” said Racela.
“Our target is to start the training on Monday, January 15. Since the players are now starting coming back from their vacation, ” Racela added.
Perpetual pride Scottie Thompson played an important role in bringing Racela to the Altas, whofinished with a 10-8 record last season.
On his part, Thompson said: “It’s a new journey, what lies ahead for the next season for Coach Olsen and coach Myk combination. More to go for Perpetual.”
Members of the team are Mark Denver Omega, Nath Sevilla, Christina Pagaran, Cyrus Nitura, Arthur Roque II, Carlo Ferreras, John Abis, Rey Barcuma, John Paul Boral, Angelo Gelsano, Richard Movida, Jearico Nuñez, Shawn Orgo, Bryle Mascariñas and Justin Thompson.
