A dream fulfilled.
This is how Janno Gibbs describes his latest milestone: Directing his first-ever feature film.
“Matagal ko nang gustong gawin pero siyempre hindi naman natin basta ma-i-suggest,” he shared. “So, I waited. I gathered enough courage and confidence to actually do so. Thankfully, mabait sa akin si Boss Vic (del Rosario, Viva Entertainment’s main man), pinagbigyan ang hiling ko.”
He added, “I think parang kulang tayo sa comedy directors ngayon kasi from my experience, lahat ng comedy directors noon na nagdi-direct sa amin nina Andrew E wala na. Ang nagdi-direct na lang sa amin ngayon ay si Direk Al Tantay. I want to help the comedy genre para maituloy naman namin.”
In ”Itutumba Ka ng Tatay Ko,” Janno Gibbs teams up with Xia Vigor, the talented child actress who gave an unforgettable performance in “Miracle in Cell No. 7.”
They will play father and daughter.
“Dati pa kami dapat magkakatrabaho ni Xia,” said Janno. “May nauna pa pero hindi lang natuloy. Bilib ako sa bata. Napakahusay. Magtatagal siya sa industriya.”
Xia returned the compliment.
“Napakabait po na director ni Kuya Janno,” she said. “Cool na cool lang po siya.”
As Teteng, Janno is a huge scaredy-cat. But for the sake of his daughter, he pretends to be brave.
Xia’s Tintin looks up to him even though he is the reason why she gets bullied.
Everyone knows her father is a coward, going on to tease her about it.
But the soft-hearted Teteng changes drastically one day with Big Boss (Jeric Raval) kidnapping Tintin.
No longer fearing for his life, Teteng will face anything and everything to get his daughter back safe and sound.
Also starring Anjo Yllana, Robb Guinto, TJ Valderrama, Ronnie Henares, Julianna Pariscova-Segovia, and the late, great Ronaldo Valdez in a special role, ”Itutumba Ka ng Tatay Ko,” opens in cinemas January 24.
