The Perpetual Altas Beach Volley duo will attempt for back-to-back titles when the NCAA Season 99 Beach Volley Championship is held on Jan. 22 to 27 at the Subic Bay FreePort Sand Court in Subic, Zambales.
Reigning MVP Jeff Marapoc and Louie Ramirez are heavily favored to rule the event for the second straight year. Third man of the team mentored by Sinfronio ‘Sammy’ Acaylar and Michael Cariño is Klint Mateo.
Ramirez and Marapoc won the crown undefeated , winning all 11 games highlighted by a 21-13, 15-21, 15-13 win over EAC sand spikers.
“Our mindset is to play hard and improve more inside the sand court,” said Acaylar.
“I told them not to be complacent because all teams are preparing hard.”
The Las Piñas City based team is also seeking its fourth title since the event was included in the calendar in Season 83.
The Altas also triumphed in seasons 88 and 92.
The Lady Altas, on the other hand, hope to make amends after losing to the Letran Lady Knights.
Comprising the team are Mary Rhose Dapol, Krisha Cordero and Mika Doing.
