The Philippine aquatics community warmly welcomed the support of Malacanang in ensuring the success of the country’s hosting of the Asian Age Group Championships slated Feb. 26 to March 9 at the New Clark City Aquatics Center in Capas City, Tarlac.
The Philippine Aquatics Inc. led by its secretary general and Batangas first district representative Eric Buhain expressed its gratitude to President Ferdinand Bong Bong Marcos Jr who through Memorandum Circular (MC) 43, directed all government agencies and instrumentalities to provide necessary assistance to the hosting of the continental showpiece.
“And just like that, we’re off to a very fine sailing start of this first-ever endeavor for the PAI. The whole Philippine aquatics community thanks our beloved President Ferdinand Bong Bong Marcos Jr. for his support,” said Buhain.
Aside from government agencies, MC 43 also encourages the private sector to extend support and assistance for the event which is co-organized by the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) and the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).
Around 1,400 swimmers from across Asia are expected to compete in the tournament including the country’s very own 44 Filipinos– 22 boys and 22 girls – plunging into the action in the swimming events.
Eight young divers – four each in the boys and girls categories – along with two artistic swimmers and 16 coaches complete the country’s delegation in the event.
