Tracksters Lauren Hoffman and Angel Frank continued to make heads turn after breaking Philippine indoor records in their respective events in the 2024 Clemson Bob Pollock Invitational in South Carolina over the weekend.
Hoffman, 24, clocked 53.91 seconds to bag the bronze medal in the women’s 400 meters while also shattering Kayla Richardson’s six-year-old record of 54.94sec set at the Martin Luther King Invitational in Albuquerque, United States in 2018.
“My teammates and I intend to make that record even faster but I’m still gonna celebrate this achievement for now! All season long I’ll be celebrating small wins, big wins, and everything in between,” Hoffman posted on her Facebook.
The Virginia-native sprinter finished behind Maya Singletary (52.34sec) and Clemson’s Ken’naria Gadson (53.69sec), who eventually captured the gold and silver medals, respectively.
Hoffman’s feat came just a week after posting a new national record in the women’s 600m.
Frank, for her part, came in eighth in the women’s 200m with 23.86sec but managed to eclipse the old mark of 23.90sec set by Zion Corrales-Nelson at the MASF Championships in Seattle, Washington in 2020.
Hoffman and Frank competed at the Hangzhou Asian Games last September with Robyn Brown and Maureen Schrijvers, where they finished fifth in the relays.
