Fil-American Lauren Hoffman continued to impress after breaking the national indoor record in the women’s 400 meters at the 2024 Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational in South Carolina over the weekend.
The 24-year-old sprinter clocked 53.71 seconds to erase her previous mark of 53.91sec she posted at the 2024 Clemson Bob Pollock Invitational also in South Carolina late last month.
Prior to her two feats, which are pending ratification, fellow Fil-Am Kayla Richardson holds the PH indoor mark in the said event with a time of 54.94sec in an event in Albuquerque, United States in 2018.
Her recent time enabled her to finish second in her group race was good only for 26th overall among 73participants.
Hometown bet JaMeesia Ford topped the field with a personal-best 51.33sec, followed by Jermaisha Arnold (51.75sec) and Karimah Davis (52.04sec).
“Just feeling grateful for a personal best (today),” Hoffman wrote on social media.
This was Hoffman’s third time to eclipse a national mark after also shattering the women’s 600m record at the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Virginia last month.
A native of Virginia, Hoffman competed at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China last year where she finished fifth in the 400m hurdles.
She also teamed up with Robyn Brown, Angel Frank and Maureen Schrijvers in finishing fifth in the women’s 4x400m relay also in Asiad.
