The Philippine men’s and women’s bowling teams are currently competing in the
10th DIBC-Delta Open Bowling Tournament in Dubai with teen sensation Zach Sales Ramin looking to produce another historic victory.
It can be recalled that Ramin made history last year by becoming the first male Filipino player to win the prestigious Singapore Open.
At 18, Ramin will go down in the event’s history as the youngest male bowler to top the event.
For his feat, he was honored during the recent Philippine Sportswriters Association Awards Night.
Other members of the men’s team are Marc Dylan Custodio and Stephen Diwa – the same cast that won last year’s Asian Youth gold.
All three were doing well in the elims which started last Saturday. The top 22 will advance to Round 2.
Also competing at the Dubai International Bowling Centre is Rachelle Leon who is hoping to re-produce the magic that enabled her to win the bronze medal at the World Bowling Championship in Dubai three years ago.
The tournament has lured 300 participants from 20 countries all over the globe.
Final rounds of various event will be held on Feb. 18.
