Multi-title Creamline displayed its brute strength once again and crushed Strong Group Athletics, 25-13, 25-13, 25-19, to seize the solo lead in the Premier Volleyball League All Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Tuesday, March 12.
The Cool Smashers continued to rely on their depth with almost everyone contributing a little of everything to capture their fourth straight victory in as many matches.
Bernadeth Pons topscored for Creamline with 12 points as she produced 10 kills and 2 aces despite playing only for two sets.
Skipper Alyssa Valdez also started for the Cool Smashers in the second and third sets to log 9 points, while Jema Galanza, Floremel Rodriguez and Bea De Leon chipped in five points apiece.
Creamline showed its dominance in the second frame with a 9-1 salvo that proved enough to disarm the Athletics.
The Athletics, however, showed signs of life in the third by briefly leading at 4-3 before the Cool Smashers fought back and grabbed the lead for good.
Aside from showcasing its offensive strength by unloading 44 attacks compared to Strong Group’s 27, the Cool Smashers also sizzled at the service lane by unloading six aces.
The Athletics only managed one block from Sheeka Espinosa as Creamline fired on all cylinders.
