Alex Calleja and his group The Comedy Crew are flying to Singapore and Dubai to make our kababayans laugh out loud.
Joining Alex at the Dubai Comedy Festival, are The Comedy Crew’s Israel Buenaobra, Jeps Gallon, and Mak Navares.
Note it will be the first ever stand-up comedy show in Filipino in Dubai.
“Originally, English siya, pero marami kasing OFW na nanonood sa amin online na Tagalog ang piyesa namin, so gusto naming iparinig nang live, para na rin makatulong sa mga naho-homesick nating kababayan na nakaka-miss makarinig ng Tagalog,” says Alex.
Alex and The Comedy Crew are also the first full-blooded Pinoy comedians to perform at the enormous stage of Dubai Opera.
“Nakaka-pressure pero nakaka-proud kasi mare-represent natin ‘yong style ng comedy natin sa Dubai,” Alex added.

Israel, Jeps and Mak are also Joining Alex at Comedy Masala in Singapore.

Sold out na ito,” said Alex. “Originally, one day lang siya dapat, on March 26, pero dahil nag sold-out ito, nagdagdag kami ng date, March 25. Ayun, sold out din.”
Alex is hopeful that these tours would open doors to more Pinoy comedians.
“Sana,” he said. “Kasi ang goal namin is to spread Pinoy comedy all over the world.”
Alex is adamant the time is now.
“Gumaganda na ang estado ng Pinoy comedy compared years back noong nagsisimula ako,” he shared. “Kahit paano e, na a-accept na siya. Hindi pa talaga sobrang mainstream pero we’re getting there. More exposure lang. Hopefully soon.”
As to him creating The Comedy Crew, Alex shared, “Marami kasing magagaling na komedyante dito and kailangan lang talaga is outlet. I am helping them out para mas lumaki pa ang industriya namin.”
