BACOLOD – San Miguel Beer’s June Mar Fajardo has already won an array of accolades from MVP to Best Player of the Conference to Finals MVP.
Now “the Kraken” is gunning for a new title: Three-Point King.
The 6-foot-10 Fajardo, a certified wrecking ball inside the paint, is throwing his hat into the Three-Point Shootout contest for big men that the PBA is introducing in the 2024 All Star Weekend here.
“Masaya ako na makasali sa Three-point shootout,” the seven-time MVP said ahead of Saturday’s contest. “Sana maganda yung maipakita ko.”
Ginebra’s Ralph Cu, Blackwater’s Christian David, Magnolia’s James Laput, Meralco’s Raymond Almazan, NLEX’ Dave Marcelo, NorthPort’s JM Calma, Rain or Shine’s Santi Santillan, Terrafirma’s Isaac Go and TNT’s Brandon Rosser stand in Fajardo’s way.
“Maraming bigs na magaagaling, yun ang talagang laro nila, tumitira sa labas sa game talaga. Tignan natin bukas (Saturday),” he said.
Asked what his chances of winning are, the Cebuano giant said: “Mga 60-70 percent, pwede na yun.”
