BACOLOD CITY – Who’s light will shine the brightest between the league’s rising stars is the question that is ought to get an answer as Team Stalwarts and Team Greats clash in the main event of the 2024 PBA All-Star festivities on Saturday, March 23 here.
All eyes will be on the league’s up-and-coming players led by TNT’s Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser who emerged as the top pick in the RSJ draft and is set to lead Team Greats against Team Stalwarts that on the other hand, featured top rookie pick Stephen Holt,
Tip-off of the clash is at 6:15 p.m. with the skills challenge even serving as an appetizer at 3 p.m.
The players said there will be no stones left unturned as they gun for they assured that it will be a competitive showdown that the fans can truly enjoy.
“It’s just trying to find the balance of playing the right way and also bring entertainment for the fans, crazy dunks, crazy shots but at the end of the day we just need to play the game the right way, just the balance we have to find,” said Holt.
“The goal here is to raise the standard even higher and make it competitive as much as possible but at the same time also just to have fun,” added Dyip teammate but all-star rival Javi Gomez De Liano of Team Great.
Joining Gomez de Liaño and Ganuelas-Rosser are Tuffin, Jerrick Ahanmisi, Justin Arana, Ralph Cu, Andrei Caracut, RK Ilagan, Alec Stockton, Gian Mamuyac, James Laput of Magnolia, and Shaun Ildefonso.
Holt, on the other hand, will be missing the services of Kyt Jimenez and Keith Datu but will have John Amores, Fran Yu, Adrian Nocum, Kim Aurin, JM Calma, Joshua Munzo, Anton Asisti, Santi Santillan, and Keith Zaldivar.
Serving a great sidelight in the skills challenge is the three-point shootout between the league’s big men led by June Mar Fajardo.
He will be competing for the very first big’s three-point shootout crown with Ralph Cu, Keith Zaldivar, Christian David, James Laput, JM Calma, Isaac Go, Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser and Santi Santillan.
Out to defend his three-point shooting title, meanwhile is Paul Lee as he takes on the league’s premier snipers in hometown bet James Yap, Andrei Caracut Ken Tuffin, Marcio Lassiter, Calvin Oftana, Rob Herndon, Alec Stockton, Chris Newsome, Arvin Tolentino and Gomez De Liaño.
