Far Eastern Eastern University is looking to boost its bid for the last Final Four ticket when it faces Adamson in the last stretch of the eliminations in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament on Tuesday, March 9, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Lady Tamaraws and the Lady Falcons collide at the first offering of the women’s play at 2 p.m. while defending champion De La Salle Lady Spikers tackle the University of the East Lady Warriors at 4 p.m.
Currently sporting a 5-4 record, FEU eyes to strengthen its hold of the solo fourth spot.
With players peaking at the right time, the Lady Tamaraws could be looking at their return trip to the semifinal for the first time since 2019 in Season 81.
The reliable trio of Chen Tagaod, Gerzel Petallo and rookie Faida Bakanke took turns in the offensive position to hand Adamson a sweeping loss in the first round.
Should FEU eyes a repeat over Adamson for with the coveted Final Four seat on the line, the trio is expected to carry the fight anew.
Meanwhile, La Salle sans reigning MVP Angel Canino is seeking to give its second stringers some confidence in the rotation.
Canino sustained a right arm injury during the Holy Week break and sat out the Taft based squad’s four-set win over University of the Philippines last April 4, missing a game for the first time since her debut.
With Canino out, her fellow sophomore Shevana Laput and Maicah Lazzato stepped up to somehow fill the void of the former’s absence which manifested in their third-set lapse against the Fighting Maroons.
UE is looking at nailing a third win to remain in semis hunt.
