Galeries Tower turned to France Ronquillo and Joy Doromal and swept past Farm Fresh, 25-18, 25-23, 25-16, in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City on Saturday, April 13.
Ronquillo flexed her might and drained 16 attacks and three aces to pace the Highrisers with 20 points, while Doromal provided reinforcements by firing 9 kills and one block for 10 points.
The win salvaged some measure of pride for Galeries Tower, which is already out of semifinal contention, as it improved to a 3-6 record.
It also pushed Farm Fresh to its eighth loss against two wins.
The Highrisers needed one hour and 34 minutes to outplay the Foxies, leaning heavily on their offensive assault spearheaded by Ronquillo and Doromal.
The dynamic duo actually conspired for 25 of the team’s 45 kills, outshining the efforts of Chinnie Arroyo and Trisha Tubu, who only managed to combine for 14 of Farm Fresh’s 32 attacks.
Renee Mabilangan also shone for Galeries Tower, orchestrating a variety of plays to finish with 20 excellent sets despite coming off the bench in the first set.
None from the Foxies scored in twin figures, with Arroyo and Tubu limited to only eight points each.
Farm Fresh also struggled with its service, failing to convert a single ace out of 58 attempts.
