College of St. Benilde kept its amazing winning streak going after it downed Arellano University, 25-16, 25-20, 25-14, yesterday in NCAA Season 99 women’s volleyball at the Filoil EcoOil Arena.
The Lady Blazers have now won 35 straight, including six this season that put them a step closer from claiming a Final Four spot, or, if they keep on rolling, three wins away from sweeping their way straight to the finals.
Part of CSB’s incredible feat included a couple of 11-game title sweeps last two seasons.
The Lady Chiefs fell to 3-3.
Meantime, Lyceum survived an opening set meltdown and turned back Emilio Aguinaldo College, 16-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-12.
Johna Dolorito did almost everything as she came through with 10 points that all came off attacks while spearheading their floor defense with team-highs 11 receptions and 10 digs.
Joan Doguna, Janeth Tulang and Hiromi Osada likewise came through by scattering 14, 11 and 10 hits, respectively, for the Lady Pirates.
The win pushed the Lady Pirates closerfrom claiming a Final Four seat.
LPU, however, blinked early and allowed a determined EAC to steal the first set and snare the chance of putting blemish to the former’s immaculate slate.
It wasn’t meant to be though as Dolorito and the Lady Pirates woke up from a
slumber, dictated the pace from thre and snared the triumph.
The Lady Generals remained winless in five tries.
As it is, LPU would just need to win at least two of its four elimination round assignments to advance.
