Jerald Napoles and Kim Molina’s partnership on and off screen seems perfect.
That they are going strong after several years together attests to this.
But is it for real or are they just good at hiding things?
“Both,” said Kim with a laugh.
“I mean, mahal ko si Je pero nag-aaway din naman kami, in fact nag-break na kami several times,” she added, relating how the first occurred while they were both working on “Rak Of Aegis” several years back.
Both are now starring in the upcoming “Seoulmeyt” as directed by Darryl Yap.
Jerald maintained, “This time around walang away na naganap. Masaya kami all throughout.”
“Nakatulong siya kasi rom-com ito at hindi naman drama so dapat talaga walang away, chill lang,” added Kim.
“Seoulmeyt” follows the story of Luneta “Lunie” Paticul (Kim), a social worker and K-drama fan. Lunie hails from a village ravaged by a typhoon.
One day, a Korean conglomerate presents a golden opportunity to buy their land and build a new port there.
The villagers are also promised better opportunities such as new jobs and improved housing. As the community’s leader, Lunie is in charge of negotiating with the Korean boss’s son, Park Ju Tae (played by Korean actor Ha Ju-young).
However, Ju Tae refuses to meet with the landowners so he assigns his overzealous assistant, Juanito “Jun” Mamaril (Jerald) to do the job. Jun is forced to pretend as Ju Tae’s brother, transforming himself as Park Jun Jun, a Korean businessman.
To win over Lunie, Jun takes her to Korea where they work through the deal. They also navigate the growing affection between them. Chaos and hilarity further ensue when Lunie meets the real boss.
Despite the shenanigans and cultural conflicts, will Jun and Lunie’s feelings successfully translate into a romance?
What will Lunie do when she finds out Jun’s fake persona?
The romantic-comedy film serves as the third project of Kim and Jerald with Darryl.
The three previously worked together in the films “Jowable” in 2019 and “Ang Babaeng Walang Pakiramdam” in 2021.
“Seoulmeyt” hits cinemas May 29.
