“Chances Are, You and I,” Catherine O. Camarillo’s romance drama, was chosen as one of the Spotlight Entries at the Jinseo Arigato International Film Festival, which happens on May 25 to 26.
Catherin expressed excitement over the development, deeming it a boon not only for the film but for local cinema in general.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to show our mettle as filmmakers. That we can do more, yung beyond the usual. Hopefully, it will attract us more audiences.”
Catherine as with the stars of the film, Kelvin Miranda and Kira Balinger, will grace the event.
It has been a long, arduous journey for “Chances Are, You and I,” which was marred by difficulties since its inception.
“Ang daming nangyari even before pa kami mag-start ng principal shooting sa Korea last 2022,” said Catherine. “We could only be thankful na after a long wait e, finally, mapapanood na ito sa mga sinehan.”
Produced by Pocket Media Productions, Inc., “Chances Are, You and I” is written by Catherine’s daughter, Ellis Catrina, who admitted to it being inspired by popular Korean dramas.
The film follows two terminally ill young people.
Kelvin plays Soleil Sikat or Sol, who is convinced death is inevitable and we are all bound to perish. He is a pessimist.
He realized, however, that no matter what circumstance he was in, it is us who determine our future. There’s no escaping the responsibility.
Kira is Gabriel Sinag or Gab, who believes life has a perfect ending. She has a bright personality and does not entertain pessimism. She is undoubtedly an optimist.
The two will strike a bond, eventually starting an adventure together with a flip of a coin.
Distributed by Regal Entertainment, “Chances Are , You and I” opens in cinemas May 29.
