The Perpetual Altas Spikers formally sealed their fourth straight title in Game 2 Finals of the NCAA Season 99 men’s volleyball championship this Sunday, May 26, 2024 when they defeated the EAC Generals in thrilling 3-sets victory 25-14, 25-22, 29-27 at the FilOil EcoOil Center in San Juan City.
Multi titled coach Sinfronio ‘Sammy’ Acaylar did not give the players a chance to reach Game 3 Finals and the advantage of the series went to the Generals.
This is the 14th titles under the belt of Acaylar in the men’s division since he held it in 1985, he also recorded the most titles in the men’s division since the NCAA was established in 1925.
Consider dominating the sports of volleyball this year 2010 onward because they won many championships in men’s, women’s, junior boys and girls due to their good volleyball program.
The Perpetual Junior Altas Girls also won the Volleyball Fiesta as they beat the Arellano Lady Braves in the best-of-three Finals to claim the Season 99 crown.
Louie Ramirez got the 2nd best outside spiker and back-to-back season Most Valuable Player, Jeff Marapoc as Finals MVP, Rookie of the Year and 1st outside hitter for Axel Van Book of SBU, Freshman of the Year for Jun Edang of LPU, 1st middle blocker Vince Himzon of Letran, 2nd middle blocker for KC Andrade, best opposite spiker Ruther Abor of EAC, best libero for Bim Diones of EAC and Best setter for Adrian Villados of Arellano.
“Finally we finished the series in Game 2, It was a team effort para makuha namin ito, i thank all my team mates for this.” Louie Ramirez said.
Marapoc top score the Game 2 with 18 points (15 in attacks and 3 service aces), Ramirez contributed 14 pts, Kobe Tabuga has 13 points.
Jan Ruther Abor of EAC Generals tallied team high 22 points.
