Former PBA import Chris McCullough will be one of the imports of Strong Group when it competes in the 43rd William Jones Cup in Taipei, Taiwan slated July 13 to 21.
This as McCullough signed up to the play for the Athletics – five years since he last played for the San Miguel Beermen.
He left the country with lots of fond memories as he helped the Beermen won 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
He hopes to provide SGA the same passion and fire when they play in Taipei.
It can be recalled that the 6-foot-9 McCullough, 29, reportedly offered his services to Gilas Pilipinas but things did not work out well.
For McCullough, who once suited up for the Brooklyn Nets, it is always a pleasure to don the country’s tricolors.
“After so many years, it’s truly surreal to be returning to the country (Philippines). Even though it’s just for a short while,” said McCullough.
“The experience of flying back, training, and being in the Philippines again is going to be amazing,” he added.
After his SMB stint, McCullough hopped from one team to another that saw him play for Anyang KGC (South Korea), Rytas Vilnius (Lithuania), Al-Ahli (Bahrain), and Gigantes de Carolina (Puerto Rico).
He last played for the Formosa Dreamers in the P.League+ where he averaged 18.8 points and 12.5 rebounds and led them into the semifinals.
Thanks to Chris Ross, he was reconnected to SGA head coach Chris Tiu.
“I also want to give a shoutout to Chris Ross for assisting in connecting us.”
