Now showing in cinemas is “Chances Are, You and I.”
Perfect for romantics both young and not-so-young, it is a charming little love story that allows for a bit of learning along the way.
It stars Kelvin Miranda and Kira Balinger as Sol and Gab, respectively, two young souls who would meet amid dire circumstance, both having been diagnosed with some form of brain malignancy prior.
Despite the shared condition, they look at life – and death – differently.
Sol is seemingly resigned to his fate, while Gab is cheerful, eager to make the most of her life.
Kelvin, as in past outings, displayed superb acting chops in the film.
While there are those who think of him as nothing but another pretty boy – no thanks to past controversies – he is actually an intelligent actor.
He understands the nuances given to portraying a troubled young man.
It’s a huge plus that he doesn’t give in to the usual histrionics as others might have.
Instead, he makes the most of his expressive eyes, an effective approach utilized by acting greats before him.
Kira, meanwhile, is quite the charmer. The camera simply loves her. She photographs well and in any given angle.
Beyond that, she also demonstrated ample depth as actress, transitioning through scenes like she has been doing it for aeons.
Kudos to film director Catherine Camarillo for bringing out the best in Kelvin, Kira.
Local cinema needs capable new faces and both of these newbies are up to the task.
In all, “Chance Are, You and I” is an entertaining, colorful ride meant to be shared with family, friends.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if it becomes a huge hit.
Produced by Pocket Media Productions, Happy Infinite Productions, and Pocket Media Films, and distributed by Regal Entertainment.
