National University-Nazareth School vented its ire on University of the Philippines Integrated School, 25-17, 25-20, to claim a quarterfinal berth in the 2024 Shakey’s Girls Volleyball Invitational League (GVIL) Monday, June 3, at the Paco Arena.

Masaya na manalo sila, tapos syempre di mo naman pwede i-underestimate ‘yung UP,” said NUNS coach Norman Miguel.
On Wednesday at the Adamson University gym, NUNS will face the Pool B top seed in the knockout best-of-five sets quarters of the country’s premier grassroots volleyball tournament backed by Shakey’s Pizza Parlor, Eurotel, Victory Liner, Smart Sports, Mikasa, Team Rebel Sports, Data Project, Genius Sports and Robinsons Malls.
Janella Guarino finished with eight points for the Junior Fighting Maroons, who ended their run with a 0-3 card.
Meanwhile, Kings’ Montessori School kept its bid to advance into the knockout rounds after eliminating University of Perpetual Help, 25-17, 25-14, in Pool C.
Kings’ Montessori banked on its balanced scoring for its first win after two outings to tie University of Santo Tomas at second spot behind quarters-bound Bacolod Tay Tung.
Winger Shahanna Lleses dropped 12 points, all from kills, and Shekaina Lleses added nine for Kings’ Montessori, which will face the Junior Tigresses in a do-or-die match for the remaining quarters berth in their bracket today at the same venue.
The Junior Lady Altas finished their campaign winless in three starts despite the eight-point effort of Jemalyn Menor.
Adamson secured a quarters seat after silencing NUNS, 25-18, 25-23, last Sunday at the Adamson University gym.
Shaina Nitura displayed her fine form with a 14-point explosion to lead the Lady Baby Falcons’ domination over the rival they defeated in the UAAP Season 86 finals.
The reigning UAAP MVP hammered 13 attacks and nailed an ace while Abegail Segui and Lhouriz Tuddao combined for 11 points for Adamson, which will face the second ranked team in Pool A in the quarters.
On the other hand, last year’s bronze medal winner Bacolod Tay Tung clinched a quarters ticket after a quick work of Perpetual, 25-16, 25-18, to complete a three-game sweep of Pool C last Sunday.
Thunderbolts middle blocker Rhose Almendralejo fired eight kills and landed two aces to finish with 10 points backed by Ana Hermosura’s seven markers and five points by Jothea Ramos.
The Bacolod-based squad crosses paths with the no. 2 ranked team in Pool B in the quarters.
