Seven-time Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo looked poised to take his 10th Best Player of the Conference plum after taking the pole position in the statistical race – thanks to his steady performance and San Miguel’s deep run in the Philippine Cup playoffs.
This as the 6-foot-10 center leapfrogged NLEX guard Robert Bolick with 43.12 statistical points after averaging 17.3 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists.
Bolick, who led the BPC race all throughout the eliminations, fell to second spot with 43.09 SPs after leading the league in scoring with 28.3 points on top of his 5.2 rebounds, and 6.5 assists although he’s unlikely to contend with the plum after a quarterfinals exit for the Road Warriors.
One who can put up a challenge to Fajardo’s BPC chase is own teammate CJ Perez who sits at the fourth spot with 39.18 SPs just right behind Terrafirma rookie Stephen Holt who keeps hold of the third spot with 40.8 SPs
Ho is also the leading Rookie of the Year candidate after leading Terrafirma to breakthrough all-Filipino quarterfinals appearance with averages of 21.08 points, 8.1 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 2.4 steals.
The Dyip, however, was booted out by Fajardo and the Beermen in the quarterfinals.
Rounding out the Top 5 is Christian Standhardinger with 39.16 SPs
