A game of hide and seek with a scary twist.
This, it seems, is the premise of “Playtime,” GMA Pictures and Viva Films’ latest collaborative film effort.
Directed by Mark A. Reyes V, “Playtime” revolves around three women of diverse inclinations.
Allyson, brought to life by Sanya Lopez, is a vlogger-influencer.
Roni, played by Coleen Garcia, is a bride-to-be eager for one last adventure.
Patricia, portrayed by Faye Lorenzo, is an abused, naive woman.
All three are to get entangled with Xian Lim’s Lucas and for different reasons.
Allyson believes Lucas is just another harmless fan.
Roni sees him simply as a nobody, a mere stranger she could just drop whenever.
Meanwhile, Patricia deems Lucas her knight in shining armor – the one man who will rescue her from the monster that is her boyfriend.
They were wrong.
And soon, they will all soon find themselves fighting for survival as Lucas unveils his real self.
Sanya related, “This will be a fun ride for everyone and I believe we will surprise fans. Marami kaming ginawa dito na lahat kami, first time naming gawin. It’s one of those suspense thrillers na kakaiba sa the usual na napapanood ninyo.”
“Abangan n’yo kasi exciting, sobrang suspense. Sana maramdaman ninyo kung gano kami hiningal at nahirapan sa pagbigay-buhay sa kuwento,” she added.
Xian, meanwhile, related, “Physically, I was bulking up for this. Lucas, my character, will be after three girls. Sabi ko, ‘Ah, maybe, I should veer away from the parang boy next door, loving son, romantic lead image, and move into like a big guy.’ Like, if I’m with three girls, they won’t be able to get away from me. So that was a conscious effort for me, to gain a little bit of muscle mass for this. Mentally, it’s just getting into the mindset that you’re playing a psychopath.”
Coleen expressed excitement relating the film.
“It’s very thrilling, it’s very suspenseful. You wouldn’t be able to guess what’s going to happen,” she shared.
Faye revealed she, Sanya and Coleen allowed for a bit of skin in the film.
“Kailangan siya sa story e,” she said. “So, parte ng preparation ko, unang-una, work out. And syempre, inaral ko ‘yung character ko.”
Mark, on his part, related, “It was a conscious effort for me to offer moviegoers something different. Usual na sa atin yung rom-com, yung romance, so ito, thriller, suspense.”
Also part of the film’s cast: Bruce Roeland, Haley Dizon, Kim Perez, Lienel Navidad, Camille Patricia Guzman.
“Playtime” opens in cinemas June 12.
