He could have simply coasted along being Gary Valenciano’s son.
But, no.
Gabriel “Gab” Valenciano made huge effort to establish his own path, harnessing his innate talent and creativity.
He would eventually gain notice as a creative dance dynamo, starting with his stint on TV5’s “Shall We Dance” in 2008, where he was declared grand celebrity champion.
Several years later, his work on the song “Move” for the “ASAP Supahdance” album would earn him three trophies at the Awit Awards as interpreter, producer and composer.
He would go on to win more awards in subsequent years, receiving the Best Musical Score trophy from the Gawad Pasado Awards in 2014 for scoring the award-winning indie film “Alagwa,” starring Jericho Rosales.
“Galing Ng Pilipino,” TFC’s 20th anniversary theme song composed by Jonathan Manalo, which Gab produced and arranged, won for them the Best Inspirational Song and Best Theme Song at the 2015 Awit Awards as well as Best Secular Song at the Catholic Mass Media Awards.
Gab has arranged and produced music for a number of soap operas, including ABS-CBN’s remake of the K-drama “Green Rose” and “Dahil Sa Pag-Ibig.”
He would eventually direct music videos for several big stars including his father.
On TV, Gab directed the GMA-7 variety show “Wowowin” and “Wowowin Primetime” in 2020.
His other TV credits included being among hosts of TV5’s “Club TV” and “ASAP.”
He was also Sarah Geronimo’s co-host and dancing partner on ABS-CBN’s “Sarah G Live.”
Gab would go on to spread his wings further studying at the Full Sail University in Florida, graduating with certificates for recording arts and recording engineering.
It was while he was studying there that he would earn the attention of Beyoncé for his popular “Super Selfie” videos.
These videos would eventually influence the concept of Queen Bey’s music video for her worldwide hit single “7/11” which to date has already generated over 600 million views on YouTube.
Gab impressed Beyoncé so much that she included him in the credits of the video for “additional choreography,” which led to him earning a Best Choreography nomination at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, which he shared with Chris Grant and Beyoncé.
In recent months, Gab has returned to his roots as musician and performer.
Aside from composing and producing several radio jingles, Gab aslo performed as special guest in his father’s phenomenal “Pure Energy: One Last Time” concert series at the SM MOA Arena attended by a record-breaking 40,000 people.
He also brought his unique brand of entertainment to two significant events for the Filipino community in the US recently: Last June 8, he was a key participant in the 126th Annual Philippine Independence Day Celebration in Carson, California; Last June 15, Gab took part in the TFC 30 Happy Hour at the 126th Philippine Kalayaan celebration in Sugar Land, Texas.
Obviously, Gab is still on fire.
