Asia’s Pop Heartthrob Darren staged his tenth-anniversary concert “D10”at the Araneta Coliseum last June 1.
It was a huge success, with thousands of screaming fans flocking at the historic venue to celebrate with him.
Darren’s celebrity friends including Vice Ganda and Ogie Alcasid, among others, were present as well.
In an interview, Darren admitted he was overwhelmed with the reception.
He told us, “We’ve done several special events sa Araneta before pero iba pala talaga kapag alam mong sarili mong show.”
The concert was a veritable showcase of Darren’s talent.
It featured a well-rounded setlist that spanned his entire career.
Fans were also treated to electrifying collaborations with special guests Sarah Geronimo, Lyca Gairanod, Erik Santos, Ogie Alcasid, and Gary Valenciano.
About the collaborations, he said, “I was just so happy to be with them, kasi itong mga artist na ‘to are people I look up to ever since I was a kid. Walang dalawang-isip na mag-guest sa concert ko.”
Beyond that, Darren also performed a special number with his thirteen-year-old self albeit virtually.
Indeed, Darren has come a long way since he eked notice via “The Voice Kids Philippines” 10 years ago.
Today, he’s celebrated as a versatile performer who can sing, dance, host shows and act.
Asked how he balances everything including his stints on “It’s Showtime” and “ASAP,” Darren shared, “It’s nice to have a routine at ‘yun yung pang-start ko ng araw ko. Showtime muna at saka ako mag-rehearse. Pagdating ko sa rehearsals, ‘yung adrenaline ko andoon na kaagad. Nakatulong siya to prepare me for the day and calm my nerves.”
Darren has impressed many with his acting in the teleserye “Can’t Buy Me Love.”
Asked if he is going to accept more acting assignments in the near future he said, “Let’s see. There’s nothing concrete yet at the moment but I’m open to the idea.”
So, what’s next for him, we asked.
He said, “We’re finishing my first album under Star Music so, I think ‘yun muna for now.”
