Players with championship pedigree are some of the early birds in filing their applications for the 2024 PBA Rookie draft.
CJ Cansino from University of the Philippines and Evan Nelle of La Salle have already submitted their applications to the PBA Office on Wednesday, June 19, as confirmed by their agency VP Global.
Aside from the two, two other players in CJ Catapusan of UP and Paul Garcia of Ateneo, both also under VP Global, also applied for the draft.
Both Cansino and Catapusan were part of the Fighting Maroons team that ended a 36-year title drought for the state university during the Season 84 of the UAAP.
Cansino is currently playing with Iloilo Royal in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League where he is averaging 15.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.
Nelle, on the other hand, has been a winner in the collegiate ranks, being a part of two championship teams in NCAA and UAAP. He won a crown with San Beda in Season 94 of the NCAA while he was a vital part of the De La Salle title conquest in UAAP Season 86.
A heady playmaker for the Green Archers, he ran the show playing supporting cast to Kevin Quiambao. He finished with 11.3 points, 6.9 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals in his final year
