Jed Madela will be another year older on July 14.
He is going to celebrate it with a bang, staging a concert at the music museum titled “Welcome To My World” a few days prior on July 5.
He told us, “I really just want to celebrate my birthday with friend and supporters who have been there for me since day one. This concert is dedicated to them.”
Jed started his singing career in 2003, going on to earn the moniker “The Voice.”
He has since released 11 albums, earning numerous accolades along the way including the first Filipino ever to be inducted into the hall of fame of the performing arts hall in Hollywood.
During a recent gathering, Jed was asked if he still remembers the first song he performed live on TV.
He said, “It was ‘Superman (It’s Not Easy)’ by Five for Fighting. I like the meaning of the song. At the time I was slowly being recognized for my powerful vocals. Through that song, I want to tell people na I may have this powerful voice, but I’m just human. And, pina-areglo ko lang siya to make it a big, big song, and yun yung unang kanta talaga na naging parang theme song ko.”
Nowadays, Jed is happy mentoring up-and-coming singers eager to make their mark.
To this end, he joined the panel of judges in “It’s Showtime’s” “Tawag ng Tanghalan” segment, serving as judge for eleven seasons.
He also sat as judge on “Your Face Sounds Familiar” for two seasons and served as a vocal mentor for the celebrity contestants for another two seasons.
He is regularly seen in “ASAP” Sundays.
“I’m just so happy for the opportunities given me by Star Magic. They were instrumental in making me who I am today.”
It is no surprise that he recently renewed his contract with ABS-CBN’s talent arm, marking 14 years of solid partnership.
Jed is looking forward to doing more despite his numerous accomplishments.
“Sabi ko nga kay Direk Lauren (Dyogi, Star Magic head), I’m open to whatever project they feel is suitable for me,” Jed said.
“To be clear, I’m still very hungry. I feel the need to do more. Marami pa akong gustong ma-accomplish as an artist.”
Jed is a seasoned performer with a string of successful concerts under his belt.
So, what can fans expect in “Welcome To My World?”
“I don’t want to spoil the surprises that we are planning for them. Basta, it’s going to be vastly different from past efforts,” he said. “‘Welcome to My World’ is going to unfold like a book. It’s the story of what I’ve been through in the past 20 years and what I am going through in this specific moment, and kung ano pa ‘yung plans ko in the near future.”
Note that the concert is a prelude to his upcoming US tour.
On July 12, Jed will perform at the Sheraton Laguardia East Hotel Flushing, New York.
It will be followed by another performance on July 27, at Sheraton Laguardia East Hotel, Ovation Hollywood.
He will then stage a homecoming concert at the Iloilo Convention Center on September 21.
He made clear, “You can watch all these concerts kasi iba-iba gagawin ko sa bawa’t isa. I don’t like repeating myself too much. I tweak my repertoire according to what the audience feeds me so, each concert is going to be different from the other.”
