Former Zamboanga Del Norte Governor Roberto Uy and several elected officials are facing graft and corruption charges at the Office of the Ombudsman for the alleged illegal donation of government properties, equipment, and supplies to several local government units and national agencies without the necessary approval of the Commission on Audit (COA).
Also named in the complaint are Zamboanga del Norte Vice Governor Julius Napigquit, Dipolog City Vice Mayor Senen Angeles, and eight members of the 2019-2022 18th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of the Province of Zamboanga del Norte.
The complaint was filed by Alex Barrera, Aurelio Monteclaro, Manuel Reinante, Arman Alpeche, and Eduardo Luayon, employees of the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Norte, and Leoncio Orilloza, a private resident.
According to the 41-page complaint filed with the Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for Mindanao in Sta. Ana, Davao City on June 18, the former governor and eight members of the 2019-2022 18th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of the Province of Zamboanga del Norte, donated the properties, equipment, and supplies just before Governor-elect Rosalina Jalosjos could assume office in June 2022.
The total acquisition cost of the donated properties amounts to at least 925 million pesos.
