Millions of rewards and monetary incentives are expected to pour in for Carlos Yulo after winning the country’s first gold medal in the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics in the floor exercise event of the men’s artistic gymnastics.
By winning the gold, Yulo is already entitled for P10 million from the Philippine Sports Commission as declared Under Republic Act 10699 or National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act.
On top of that, the 4-foot-11 dynamo is already assured to get a fully furnished condominium unit worth P24 million at Mckinley Hill in Bonifacio Global City which was pledged by property giant Megaworld.
The House of Representatives is also giving a P3 million reward in recognition to Yulo’s historic achievement according to House appropriations panel chair and AKO Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co.
Back in April, Philippine Olympic Committee chief Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino also said that gold medal winners are also set to receive a house and lot in Tagaytay.
“If I gave houses and lots to the medalists in the Tokyo Olympics, why can’t and won’t do it again for Paris,” said Tolentino. “Our gold medalist, one or more, in Paris fully deserves this reward for their hard work, dedication and love for sport and country.”
Brands also usually offer lifetime incentives for gold winners as what happened when Hidilyn Diaz won in Tokyo Olympics.
Restaurant chain Viking Buffet has also announced that it is giving away a lifetime free buffet on any of its branches.
A lot could still be in store for Yulo as he is still in prime position to make an even bigger history — become the only multi-gold medalist Filipino — when he guns for another gold in the vault final of the men’s artistic gymnastics.
