Film director Dado Lumibao, best known for big dramas like “Always” and “Wedding Dress,” is quite excited for his new film “40” under Viva Films.
This is mainly because of what he described as the “different kind of chemistry” of his stars Cindy Miranda and Kiko Estrada.
“Ang ganda ng chemistry nila, very raw and very fresh,” he said.
“I think fans would appreciate the fact na hindi sila yung usual na love team pero ramdam mo yung kilig sa kanilang dalawa.”
In the film, Cindy plays the role of Megan, a vlogger exposed for creating fake content.
Shattered by the severe hate she’s been getting online, Megan decides to end her life once and for all.
Kiko’s Archie, a computer shop owner, saves her.
Megan is not at all pleased.
Archie is adamant though. He wants her to deal with her problems as an enemy: Attack. Conquer. Eliminate.
He promises he will only let her be once he is convinced that Megan will not try to kill herself anew.
The problem though is that Megan sees herself as her own biggest enemy.
How can Archie make her see that life is still beautiful?
Where is Archie’s optimism coming from?
Why is he only too eager to save Megan?
“I think the film offers life realizations,” said Kiko. “Hindi lang siya basta love story. It’s about people coping with grief.”
“I could totally relate to my character in the film,” added Cindy. “Like Megan, I almost came to a point where I want to give up everything due to helplessness.”
Supporting the tandem are several industry veterans including Ronnie Lazaro, Yayo Aguila, Boboy Garrovillo, Irma Adlawan, Phoebe Walker, Ruby Ruiz, JC Tiuseco.
Young actor Lawrence dela Cruz, and Diego Loyzaga also play important roles.
“40” opens September 4 in cinemas nationwide.
