December Avenue is set to stage their biggest concert yet.
Titled “Sa Ilalim Ng mga Bituin,” it happens at the Mall of Asia Arena on August 30.
Testament to the band’s popularity, the show sold out mere days after it was announced.
Organizers have since added more seats to accommodate fans.
“We had to kasi ang dami pa ring naghahanap ng tickets,” said Nancy Yang of NY Entourage Productions.
The five-piece band has been doing its thing for 15 years now.
They attested to experiencing tons of challenges on their way to the top.
“Maraming beses na naming naisip mag-quit, lalo na noong umpisa,” said vocalist-songwriter Zel Bautista.
Slowly but surely, the band gained its footing focusing on songs that offer hope.
“Doon kami actually nakilala and okay din naman kasi very positive yung impluwensya naming sa mga listeners,” said Don Gregorio, bassist.
“Actually, may mga ilan na lumapit sa amin na nagpapasalamat kasi binigyan daw naming sila ng pag-asa through our songs,” intoned keyboardist Gelo Cruz.
Jem Manuel, lead guitar, maintained “We’re really thankful na hindi naming kailangang baguhin ang tunog namin just to satisfy people.”
Jet Danao, drums, said, “Kung may nabago man e yung nagsimula kami magsulat ng Filipino lyrics. Dati kasi more on english ang mga kanta namin.”
What followed was a slew of hits including “Sa Ngalan ng Pag-ibig,” “Bulong,” “Kung Di Rin Lang Ikaw.”
“We never imagined the band will be the first Filipino act to become the most streamed on Spotify in 2019,” said Zel.
The band will launch a new song titled “Wala Ng Iba,” to coincide with their upcoming concert.
With Paolo Valenciano as musical director, “Sa Ilalim ng mga Bituin,” will feature a 32-piece orchestra to back up December Avenue.
Barbie Almabis is special guest.
