San Miguel Beer has tapped former PBA import Quincy Miller as its reinforcement for the 2024-25 home-and-away season of the East Asia Super League which fires off at the Mall of Asia Arena on Oct. 2.
The high-scoring former NBA player was no stranger to Philippine teams having played for Converge in the PBA and, last EASL season, suited up for TNT alongside its resident import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.
San Miguel opens its campaign in the season opener against Korean powerhouse Suwon KT Sonicboom.
The 38th overall pick of the Denver Nuggets in the 2012 NBA Draft averaged 28.3 points and 9.5 rebounds for the Tropang Giga last season before he was replaced by Rondae’s brother, Rahlir midway through the tournament.
Miller last played in the Japan B.League with Gilas Pilipinas forward Aj Edu’s team Toyama Grouses.
With SMB, Miller gets a chance to play alongside a potent crew that works around eight-time PBA Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo and also featured the likes of Marcio Lassiter, Chris Ross, Jericho Cruz, and Terrence Romeo.
Under the EASL rule, teams are allowed to add two imports to their roster and Miller is likely to team up with SMB’s current Governors’ Cup import Jordan Adams.
However, it’s not yet certain whether Miller would also reinforce SMB in the Commissioner’s Cup especially with Gilas naturalization prospect Benny Boatwright reportedly went under the knife to repair an Achilles injury.
